- Redbox and Verizon have joined to create a new video streaming service. All of this competition should be good for us, but I have yet to be entirely impressed. But that's probably because studios won't put movies on DVD for an absurd amount of time.
- Bristolmetrics. Looking forward to next week's, where I'm sure the NFL will be unreasonably high.
- Joan Rivers has had plastic surgery a whopping 739 times, which explains her frighteningly weird looking face.
- Empire Carpet bought Luna, but before you get all excited about Luna's jingle disappearing, note that the two brands will continue to operate and advertise separately. Rats.
- Will Ferrell's Super Bowl ad is going viral!
is that the best super bowl commercial because i didn't see any commercials
ReplyDeletei don't know what you mean by:
ReplyDeleteBut that’s probably because studios won’t put movies on DVD for an absurd amount of time.
does that mean like you want a smaller time period between theater release and dvd release or something else because the turnaround for we bought a zoo and war horse is four months
You were right with me wanting a smaller time period between theater release and DVD release. I think I've heard that Netflix has to wait even longer than the standard release time for some DVDs, which is just annoying. Either that or release dates are being pushed back further than they used to be. I think.
ReplyDeletefour months is really short you're insane
ReplyDeleteWe Bought A Zoo is not available on Netflix, so there you go.
ReplyDeleteMy complaint was misdirected - the DVD turnaround time is not too long, but the Netflix (and other video rental places) turnaround is.
they don't come out until april
ReplyDeleteArghhh whatever, Netflix takes longer than regular DVD, that's the point I'm trying to make.
ReplyDeleteit looks like there's an agreement for new releases from wb universal fox to come out four weeks later on netflix because the studios're trying to sell more physical copies but five months is still a pretty good turnaround and also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_distribution#Shrinking_of_the_theatrical_window
ReplyDeleteFair enough - perhaps my "absurd amount of time" line was a bit much.
ReplyDeleteI still find myself frustrated when movies are available on DVD but not available on Netflix (DVD or streaming). I know that's the nature of the business, and studios want to try to sell physical DVDs, but I don't like it. There's gotta be a better way.
