- National Donut Day is Friday, June 7. DD is celebrating by giving away a donut with a purchase of a beverage on the 7th. That seems kind of crappy to me, to be honest. I think they should just give away free donuts, right? Cheapos.
- Some Blackhawks game last night, eh? How many times have you watched a replay of the final goal today?

- I guess Sam Mendes is going to direct the next James Bond movie. I didn't really like Skyfall, so this isn't great news to me.

- Dan Harmon could be coming back to Community, which I guess is good. Is it? I don't know.
- Funbag.
- While silly, this Chrome/phone game is also pretty cool.
- This article raises an interesting question: what's worse, knowing about abuse and not doing anything, or not being diligent enough to know about the abuse in the first place? I'd probably go with the former, but the latter's pretty bad, too.
QotD: "Any way you can get an advantage over the opponent to help your team win, so be it." - LeBron James on flopping, while simultaneously endorsing any form of cheating.

- Brian Urlacher is retiring. In recent years, he really started to annoy me, and even before then I didn't like him much. So to this news, I say "whatever."

- The upgraded Google Hangouts will also incorporate SMS. Seems handy, and I'm interested to see how exactly it works.
- RIP Dick Trickle. You had the greatest name in sports history, and because of it, I always rooted for you.

- Dictionary of numbers - what a great idea.
- I wonder what it's like to have a BAC of .471%.
- I could listen to the Bunker theme from Goldeneye all day. And listening to all of these Perfect Dark songs really takes me back. Some great potential ringtones here.
- More Office farewells.

- 1. Go to http://images.google.com
2. Search for "atari breakout"

- Some of The Office actors wanted to say goodbye. [video]
- Bill Hader is leaving SNL. So who is left on that show that I find even remotely funny? I don't know.

- You probably heard this news, but perhaps it got lost in your Mother's Day celebrations: Seth Meyers will replace Jimmy Fallon on Late Night. How do you think he'll do? To me, it seems like a pretty safe choice. I don't think he'll be bad, but I don't think he'll be revolutionary, either. So it's exactly what you'd expect from a late show host.

I'm not going to have much time to post this week. If I manage to come up with a thing or two, I'll try to post something, but consider this week a break from normal activity. That includes Sox Talk, too.

W 3-1
For how much I've ripped the Sox's relief pitching the last few days, I must applaud them after last night's performance. 3.2 innings of one-hit ball... not too shabby, although the 5 walks is still an issue. Still, they were able to hold a 2-run lead for 4 innings in Texas, which is not easy to do.
I don't like that the Sox would have been shut out if not for one Tyler Flowers home run, but baseball can be sensitive like that. One little thing can have a major impact, and it did last night.
I've got some potentially awful news regarding Gavin Floyd, which I also shared on Five Things. Looks like he could be out for a long time. If that's true, I think the Sox are going to need John Danks to come back rather soon. Santiago was pretty good last night, but I'm not sure if he's a long-term starter.
Stat of the Day: Addison Reed got his 10th save last night. That puts him one behind the leaders in that category. Also, he has saved 10 of the 12 White Sox wins.
Record: 12-15

- Live Funbag. I think this'll be the last time I post this - I'm not a big fan of the live ones. Deadspin/Gawker's commenting system is just too unbearable.
- Ugh. I hope it's not the end of Gavin Floyd's Sox career, but it apparently might be. Sad.

W 5-2
I was able to watch a couple innings of tonight's Sox game. I watched intently as Jesse Crain tried to blow the 5-2 lead. Then I watched Addison Reed try to do the same thing. Luckily, both pitchers were able to hold onto the lead, which is a bit surprising, given how the bullpen has been performing lately.
Chris Sale had a strong outing, especially if you don't count the 2nd inning. Home runs from Conor Gillaspie and Alejandro De Aza gave the Sox the lead in the 7th, and they never looked back. The Sox were actually outhit 9-8 tonight, which makes me a feel a bit like they stole this one, but of course I'll take it.
Stat of the Day: The Sox only had one player in their lineup tonight who is hitting over .300. That player is.... Conor Gillaspie, at .323. The next best is Alexei Ramirez at .283, followed by Alex Rios at .276. Nobody else is above .240!!!

It's really tough for me to watch baseball right now. Pair the NHL playoffs with a terrible White Sox team and you've got a situation where I'm never going to pick baseball over hockey. I'll still try to churn out some sort of a write-up after all/most Sox games, but just know there's a very good chance I won't have watched any parts of the game, at least until later on in the NHL playoffs. Apologies for that, but if you're reading this, you're probably a Sox fan, too, and you probably don't want to watch them play either.
Anyway, the box score from this game tells a similar story to many games this year: the Sox got off to a strong start and then died in the later innings. Quintana, in typical Quintana fashion, failed to go deep in a game, and got rocked in the middle innings. And, once again, the bullpen was horrible, and the defense allowed 2 errors. Are there any positives to take from this game?
Yes! Dewayne Wise went 4-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs. Well done, Wise!
Stat of the Day: Dewayne Wise tied his career high in total bases in a game with 8.
