- The Navy is apparently four years away from having a laser cannon prototype aboard a ship. This seems too awesome to be true.
- Joe Posnanski is leaving Sports Illustrated. I don't really have much to say on the topic, but for any of you that follow his writing, maybe you'll be interested.
- GMiDHF.
- Andrei Arshavin! On Grantland! OK, not for the best reason, but whatever.
- Ryan Leaf is a boss.

- And the new Illinois men's basketball coach is... John Groce! Yes, that John Groce.
- Check out a stripper's guide to the Final Four. Hot!
- Poor Aaron Rowand, how far you've fallen.
- Here's something by Chris Ryan on Real Madrid's $1 billion resort.
- Apparently Google will start selling tablets on its own this year, which furthers my frustration with this goddamn tablet craze.

- Find out what's going on in your Google account by using Account Activity. I can see Nate liking or hating this.
- Say hello to the World League Association (of soccer). Look out, FIFA.
- First NBC tried to dethrone ESPN. While its efforts are ongoing, I don't think it has made as big of an impact as it (/I) hoped. Anyway, now Fox is considering launching an assault on ESPN.
Ugh, today sucks. Two random article for you!
- Figure out whether you should do something yourself or hire someone by using this calculator.
- In 2011, nearly 1 billion "smart connected devices" were shipped. Cool?

- The Smashing Pumpkins are getting all meta-y and releasing an album within an album. Mind = blown?
- Of course I hear about Google coming up with a comments system to rival Disqus one day after I changed the RMB system to Disqus. Whatever. Knowing Google, it'll probably launch with a ton of hope and then fizzle and die.
- Baseball season starts tomorrow, so take a look at Uni Watch's 14th annual MLB season preview column!
- Reducer!!! "The Reds have lost four of their last six matches since lifting the taking-your-cousin-to-the-prom of English trophies." LOL.
"...and perhaps most galling of all, the greatest trick Sir Alex Ferguson ever played was making anyone think Charlie Adam's free kicks alone were worth more than the price of admission." LOLOL.
- Funbag.

New Comment System
For those of you who don't check RMB on an hourly basis, you may have missed the new comment system that I implemented last night. I moved from HTML Comment Box to Disqus. The new system allows your comments to be tracked across all pages easily, and it's also cleaner, easier to maintain, and a scalable solution going forward for RMB.
Some of you might not like it at first because it requires some sort of login (e.g., Google, Facebook, Disqus), but I still think it's worth doing. Unfortunately, any previous comments were wiped from the site, but starting now, all comments should be saved permanently on the site.
I look forward to seeing your comments out there, fools.

- Bristolmetrics: The return of Tim Tebow.
Also of note [via Brad]: "Women's college basketball got more coverage than the NHL: The 13.25 minutes of women's hoops coverage was the first time in 2012 that a women's sport bested a men's league. Possibly related: ESPN is the exclusive home of the NCAA women's basketball tournament."
- Now's a good time to remind you that spring training isn't a good indicator of performance during the regular season. While I don't really like the wording of some of this article, I still think the stats are worth a look. (I know the article is old, don't worry)
- If you, like me, are getting a little embarrassed by Illinois' inability to find a new head coach for the men's basketball team, perhaps this article will make you feel a little better. [via Brad]
- Why did Google change the name of their market from "Market" to "Play?" I can't figure it out. "Play" sounds stupid.
- Speaking of Google, this article goes into detail on some of Google's missteps and what could have caused them. I agree; they have struggled quite a bit recently.

- They say Joba Chamberlain's disgusting injury occurred on a trampoline, which is yet another example of how dangerous trampolines can be.
- GMiDHF.
- Yep, Geraldo Rivera is a complete dumbass.
- Apparently scientists have discovered a device that can allow for a cheap way to hide objects from magnetic fields. That's pretty cool, but also kind of scary when you think about airport security scanners.
- On a slow day, maybe you'll enjoy some more NFL bounty info.

Day three of Stiffsathon, let's see what I can pull out of the hat today...
- In anticipation of midnight screenings and the weekend's top box office receipts, here's a 5-star review of The Hunger Games.
- How often does Nicole read 5 Things? I don't know, but here's a test to see if she read it today: Orphaned sea otter pup rescued by Alaskan beachgoers! Don't give up little guy!
- Did you guys catch Community last week? I don't like SeƱor Chang that much, but it looks like he's got a story arc coming up... here's a video interview with him and Shirley.
- Jack White preemptively puts his foot in his mouth and says no reunion! I can't wait to say I told you so in a few years.
- Every Chicagoan's favorite topic: the weather. Heat wave theory brought to you by the team that predicted the worst winter ever, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's the first day of Spring and Rezmanbrown's locked away in another all-day no-Internet meeting, so I'm back to disappoint!
- Let's get things kicked off with a DDBlog Autoreblog about what puts an extra spring in DD fans' steps.
- R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet" returns this year!!! If you haven't seen the first 22 chapters, do yourself a favor and WATCH IT. A MILLION TIMES. It's that good.
- 15 heart shocks and 78 minutes later... [via Paul]
- Harry Potter vs the Green Goblin vs the real Allen Ginsberg: vote!
- I feel like I don't post enough baseball stuff, so here's a worthless baseball article.

Rezmanbrown's been in an all-day no-Internet meeting, so let's see if I can wrap this up in 13 minutes before he gets back...
- If Great-great-grandma can paraglide, so can you!
- The new iPad might give you more trouble than just your sperm count...
- This Eminem/Mitt Romney mash-up is making the rounds -- yea or nay?
- Deal of the Day (new feature?): $10 Amazon Gift Card for $FIVE. Expires at 2AM on 3/21, and apparently there's a limited quantity available (though 917,459 have been purchased at the time of this writing...)
- Uh I'm having trouble finding a fifth thing, so PSA: today's Very Hungry Caterpillar Day -- eat up!
Boom finito! 5 on the dot!

- Soon you may be able to continue using an electronic device during takeoff. About time!
- Will your house be underwater in the next 100 years? If you live in Illinois, the simple answer is no, it probably won't be. But check out this interactive map to view other cities/states that might not be so lucky!
- Say hello to Starbucks's new juice bar chain, Evolution Fresh (god what a horrible name). I've yet to hear when it'll be invading Chicago.
- Peyton Manning to the Broncos. Aww, poor Tim Tebow :-(
- This recap of The Walking Dead finale is actually pretty solid. Nails down a few key points about how terrible the show has been.
- #6! - Bristolmetrics.

- In this NSFW post, learn how to take flawless naked pictures of yourself using your phone.
- Perhaps the Walking Dead video game will include more zombies than the show. But then it might just copy the Left 4 Dead series, which really nailed the whole zombie situation pretty well.
- Turns out the director of that Kony 2012 video is crazy, too!

Rezmanbrown's off for the rest of the day, so here's LithiumStiffs filling in
- This showed up in my newsfeed three days late apparently, but as they say, better DDBlog Autoreblog or risk death!
- Troll Rick Santorum at Hersey tomorrow. Huskie pride!
SANTORUM BONUS: No more Internet porn?
- Good reasons to get a vasectomy.
- Europa League round-up (including video highlights!)

Happy Pi Day, fools who consider Pi to be something worth celebrating!
- Let's dive deeper (pun?) into this whole Marlins fish tank story. Is it cruel to the fish? Are fish too stupid for us to care about? Did you also find it amusing that they stress tested the glass by having a first-baseman throw balls at it?
- Goodbye AIM? Ruh roh....
UPDATE - Not so fast.
- Here's your yearly guide on how to watch the NCAA Tournament while at work.
- HBO killed Luck just like it killed horses! I'm kidding, I don't care about the dead horses.
- Here's your ASCII art fifth thing. Yummmmmmm.

- Reducer is back this week, with some nice lines, like, "Jordan Henderson is about as much a right winger as Charlie Adam is a male model."
- As an update to yesterday's item, here's a breakdown of basketball shots by position. It includes a conclusion on the worst shot in the NBA.
- Funbag.
- The bracket service announcements are sooooo stupid and sooooo annoying.
- Holy crap, jumping jack ants are crazy.

- GMiDHF.
- How Corporations Corrupt Science at the Public's Expense. Shocking!
- Will Forte will star in a Fox series about... well, read the article to see what it's about. That's right, I roped you in.
- Apparently in real life, Nicolas Cage had a copy of Action Comics No. 1, which is worth like $2.1 million. Anyway, it was stolen and only found 11 years later. Now they're making a movie about it, and we've yet to find out who will play Cage. [via Nate]

- For the first time ever, NBC will broadcast every Olympic event live via NBC and/or YouTube.
- I know you don't need another reason to visit Taco Bell, but they've introduced a Doritos taco shell. So... you should probably go today.
- Do you love of hearing that x baseball player gained/lost y pounds in the off-season? Of course you do. Here's a list of a lot of the information so far!

- "I think it's okay to hate the Marlins."
- Parks and Rec shot two different season finales, mostly to prevent spoilers from circulating, but also in case the producers change their minds. Clever? I dunno.
- Check out the new iPad, which is called iPad and not iPad 3. So if you have a first-gen iPad, I don't know what your relic of a device is really called now. Also tablets are stupid.
- Here's Deadspin's weekly EPL roundup, which I'm posting because I have yet to see a Reducer this week. Get off your ass, Chris Ryan.
- Google is changing the look of the Google +1 buttons. I think the new look is stupid, so I'm hoping the ones on this page don't change. I know you guys love to use them...

- The Pirates' newly acquired, washed-up pitching mess AJ Burnett will miss 2-3 months with a facial fracture after fouling a ball off his face while bunting.
- Predictably, Cubs players have come to the defense of the Ryan Braun sample collector.
- The Marlins' new stadium has a fish tank acting as a wall behind home plate. And now we wait for a foul ball or wild pitch to shatter that stupid thing.
- GMiDHF.
- Here's the NFL story that will dominate the news until the draft. Even when it's out of season, NFL coverage still manages to ruin my life.

- Apparently NBC is coming out with a comedy pilot featuring Dane Cook. It will surely be the worst thing you'll ever see. That is, if you decide to watch it. I don't know why you would.
- This isn't news so much as it's a reason for me to share a happy memory. It's conference tournament time.
- Poor poor Portsmouth. I will always love you.
- On this slow news day, help Alexei Ramirez find his missing gold medal from the 2004 Summer Olympics.
