- Even this NFL player's non-celebration is in my mind a celebration. Right?

- Boise State to the Big East... I guess money rules all. Also joining them (among others): San Diego State. Again, this is the Big East.
Not quite a celebration to me. I really liked it.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: football rules all. Pitt and Syracuse were perfectly fine in the Big East, as well as being founding members (ok Pitt joined like a year later but still), yet still left for the ACC.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you could make that argument, since better football games are what generate more money. But no team would move based solely on good football. If good football didn't translate to more money, Pitt and Cuse probably stay put, and surely Boise State and San Diego would, too.
ReplyDeleteCuse more like EXCuse to generate more money
ReplyDeleteBut moving to another BCS conference isn't going to get them more money, especially since they'll have a harder time competing and won't win the ACC for a long time. It was just disappointing to see them move because apparently they think they're football schools, even though it's fairly obvious they're not.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the true reason for their move, but I struggle to accept that it's for anything but money, in the end. Perhaps they had a better grasp of the future of conferences than we did, and they realized that the ACC is a better overall basketball and football school than the new Big East would be.
ReplyDeleteBut I think you might be off in saying that by moving from the Big East to the ACC they won't get more money. I can't imagine a school taking a financial hit by making a voluntary move.
Look at Cuse's football all time record and where they are on the all time wins list. They are more of a football school than we'd like to think because recently they haven't been that great.
ReplyDeletei can't reply to matt's comment even though i have nothing to add i just want to see how small these replies get
